Pu'u Ma'eli'eli aka The digging hill. Hike up this gem and read the story behind digging hill on the sign at the summit.
Not sure what's wrong with people, or maybe they have been taught the wrong way, but if you look on Yelp and elsewhere for directions to this hike, you'll likely get confused. People talking about the trailhead being "tricky" and "confusing". I was confused reading about it and then called a friend. ....shoulda done dat first :-).
It really couldn't be more simple.
Watch the video...not tricky or confusing at all :-)....
And the images from the hike....
Was expecting tons of mud, but not too bad at all.
Cool low lying trees..
Not too shabby on the views, huh?
Rain coming from the mountains
Short and sweet!
Mokoli'i looks so tiny from most hikes :-)
There's a story that goes with this pic. See Facebook for it.... :-)
Not sure what kind of nasty mess is in the bunkers but I didn't go in to find out.
That's an actual ornament hanging from a tree. One of the more odd things I've seen on a hike.
I've heard lots of talk of this hike. Short, not too difficult and amazing views. It lived up to all of that. But this is why you come here.....for the Fat Man Factor.....Short...easy????. For the skinny people, sure.....
FMF (Fat-Man-Factor)(FMF is a difficulty scale from 1-10, from an out of shape, fat, white guy's point of view): 5 I was gonna go with the flow and rate this a 2 or 1, but that's just not true. Ain't nuthin going up hill can be a 1 or 2. Not for a fat man! Pretty tame, yes, and I never felt in any danger, but I bet this sucker is fun when it's wet and muddy. If that's the case, beware :-). You've been warned :D.
