I'll start out by telling you, on this, my 2nd attempt to reach the falls, I STILL didn't get there :-). I got to where I "thought" it was, which was good enough for me. Most of the group climbed up to Waiakeakua, but you'll have to check there pages out for pics :D.
I got there a bit early enough to catch the sun still on the rise. Beautiful as it peeks through the trees.
Something has been busy!
Doesn't take me long to get messy. If you're looking for a nice, dry hike, find another one.
A rare capture of the elusive creature known as Khym. Oh, Bill and K too.
Bill and K wondering why they listened to me for directions.
A lil break at the Queen's bath.
The Queen......taking a bath?
Onward and upward!
Amazing how I can make Bill look good even with a Canon in his hands :D.
That looked better in person. The sun shining through was pretty amazing.
We forgot our group shot before. Better late than never.
Looks like she wants to hurt me. That's probably accurate.
Mini falls before the falls that is before the falls :-).
The falls right below Waiakeakua. This is as far as I went. I didn't trust the knee with anymore climbing.
The beautiful Amy and Malia.
I keep telling him there's no way for that machine to make me look good, but he keeps trying. Can't blame him.
Chris threw some water on his forehead to make it look like he was sweating.
This falls was beautiful enough for me.
The group was split into thirds, with some climbing, some not wanting to wait and other climbing even further than Waiakeakua. I ended with these folks.
FMF (Fat-Man-Factor)(FMF is a difficulty scale from 1-10, from an out of shape, fat, white guy's point of view): 6 This is the hike I messed my knee up on so I'm a bit partial to its difficulty. It's really not bad, but there are 2 smaller falls to climb to get to the big one. Other than that, just muddy and a bit slippery in spots. I assume most hikers would call this easy. Then again, I'm the fat man, so I'll give my own Fat-Man Factor! :-)
