**Not sure how I missed the signs, but AFTER this hike, I learned it is, indeed, trespassing on government property to hike this hike.**
You have been warned.
I have 2 NEW favorite views on this island. Rather than talk about them, let's get right to them. Well, in a few minutes.....the video first:
Rarely do I mention this here, but I have the best print prices around. Literally FRACTIONS of what other similar quality photogs are charging. Not trying to get rich.....just trying to share the beauty....one image at a time. Check out the price list here.
While I wanted to press the button on the way up, I knew if I just waited til the top to start shooting, it would be well worth the wait. VOILA! Amazing beauty from the first press of the shutter.
Long way down
Probably my favorite view EVER, but definitely my favorite view on Oahu. I literally sat still for 20 minutes here. That doesn't sound like much to you, I'm sure, but I'm rarely EVER still for that long. Just amazing. So blessed to have this 30 minutes from my house.
Tried a few shots using a timer and a rock as a tripod.
One of my favorite shots, but my wife says I look like Toad from Mario Bros. That just ain't right!
A little black and white....just because.
Step outside to the left of the cave for this phenomenal view.
A couple shots of inside the cave. You can see a little of the smaller cave to the left.
And this....my NEW favorite view. This will be on a canvas in my living room very soon. The light just right on the mountains to give that rich, green. Blessed beyond measure.
A little glimpse of the path to and from the cave. Can't say it was a lot of fun :D.
If ya watched the video, this is the infamous rope that no one needs cuz this hike is way TOO EASY. I'd tell ya what I think of that, but this is a G rated blog :-).
Lower makua cave. Much larger than the ones up top. I wish I could shake the noises I heard in there. Kind of like a conversation was going on, but I was the only one in there. Inaudible words. Very odd and I got out rather quickly :D.
One shot and I'm gone!
Rather than make 2 blogs, I'll put these here too. From Mt. Lahilahi. Separate hike, but close enough to include here :-).
Back side of Lahilahi, not quite to the top.
Just a great day, even though it only took a little over an hour for both hikes combined :-).
FMF (Fat-Man-Factor)(FMF is a difficulty scale from 1-10, from an out of shape, fat, white guy's point of view): 6 Doesn't take long at all, but it is climbing and climbing on very loose dirt and rock. If you're with a group, be careful if you're below people cuz rocks will fall. Once you're to the contour trail, the caves are right there, but again, loose dirt and a near vertical drop to the right. Just takes one slip. Be safe!
