This past Sunday's hike with Oahu Hikers took us to Wiliwilinui Ridge Trail. This is my second time on the trail, but the fist time there was anything to take a picture of as I was covered in clouds the first time around. We couldn't have asked for a more perfectly clear day this time though.
As always, the video:
And the images:
Always start with a group shot...
When certain people have their eyes closed on BOTH group shots, I'm forced to edit OPEN eyes on them.
Nearly immediate amazing views, keeping in mind we have driven a good way to the parking area :-).
And just as quickly as the views, the fast and slow are separated. Yes, that's why I'm in the back :D.
Eventually we're hiking in pockets of 2-4 people :-).
The only way I catch people is if they stop to take lots of pictures.
That tower in the center, WAY out there is where we're headed.
A couple miles in we find the swing. The next portion is 95% stairs to the top.
Everyone got their turn on the swing :D.
The tower is SLOWLY getting closer.
Those lovely stairs.
I see an orange shirt.....and a tower.....closer!
Someone should buy this guy a Nikon!
At the top with the Dirt Ninja aka Chris.
We started at the bottom.....you know the rest.
Awesome views from Chinaman's hat, to KBay, to Lanikai and Olomana.....God did good!
The famous Bill and K!
You can actually see the aforementioned Chinaman's hat in this shot. Looks like a little spec to the left. And Olomana right in front of us. Chris thinks I'm climbing that thing next month. He cray cray!
All the speedsters were kind enough to wait LONG TIME for my slow self to get up top for another group shot :D.
Bill doing his usual reapplying of the lipstick.....wait, isn't that usually Maggie?
Brian doing what Brian does at the top.....SLEEP! Could be because as much as he runs past us and then back and then to other ridges and then back....all while waiting for us to get to the top of the FIRST hike.....Yeah, I'd be sleeping too!
Time to head back down. Love this view!
Again, in honor of Jason, Maggie was scared.
Again with the view.
And we end with a some more swing action. Gotta love Khym's effort :D.
A cropped image so you can plainly see the other islands. Not just a silhouette today. Could see the beach on Moloka'i. Beautiful!
FMF (Fat-Man-Factor)(FMF is a difficulty scale from 1-10, from an out of shape, fat, white guy's point of view): I'll give this one a 6. Tough on this old, fat guy. Not much of a danger factor so long as it's dry. This could be hazardous if wet and muddy, but dry and you get a 6 simply because of the 4-6 mile climb(4-6 cuz as you see above, my app says 5.57 miles. Chris's app said 4.5O). On a clear day, like this, worth every bead of sweat!
