Hiking in Palolo Valley to Kaau Crater, as always, with Oahu Hikers.  Beautiful valley with some pretty awesome waterfalls.

The video....

And the story....

Rumor has it, some time ago, the only sign was KAPU, aka KEEP OUT!  If you're hiking here, be courteous so we will remain welcome.

Who else gets to hike with models?  That's right!  I mean, there's also Khym to even things out :D.

He deserved a spankin for making me stress like that!

Absolutely stunning 1st waterfall.

Then the climb to the next.  Not my idea of fun, but hey, ya gotta get there somehow.

There he goes again, trying to give me a heart attack!

Ok, so up to the 2nd waterfall, this is my new favorite hike.  I'm not afraid to tell ya I wasn't a fan of nearly anything after the 2nd falls.

Nice time for a break.

A glance at the 3rd falls we will be climbing in a few minutes.

and there it is.  Not a vertical falls like the others.  A gradual falls that seemed to go on FOREVER....

Did I mention FOREVER?

See, I thought after falls #2, I was done.  Well, this thing, if you go around the rim, could get MUCH worse.  We stopped here.  Great idea for a fat guy!

And Kaau crater.  That's all marsh.  So, you get the idea why all the waterfalls and pools are filled with nasty looking water.....cuz it's nasty marsh water.

I think someone should put this on a canvas and put it on their wall.

Time to head back down.

Cool tree, huh?

FMF (Fat-Man-Factor)(FMF is a difficulty scale from 1-10, from an out of shape, fat, white guy's point of view): 7 Hey, this is from a fat guy's point of view and this thing was exhausting for me.  I didn't really feel in danger, although at the top of waterfall #2 bad things could happen if you're not careful.  That could be said a few times, I guess, but personally I didn't feel in any danger.  Just a constant climb and just when I thought we were going down, we had to climb some more to get to the down point.  I'll probably go back as I hear there are even more waterfalls to discover, but you won't catch me up around the crater.  I'll leave that for skinny people!

As always, I ain't your daddy.  Most of ya can handle more than I can.  Some of ya can't.  You know you better than I do.  Hike at your own risk.
